Types of Inspection Methods
With the UAV inspection services of FSS, the safety of your inspectors will not be in question when inspecting high or hard to reach assets. Instead of helicopters, ropes, scaffolding, and ladders, all that’s required is a UAV and a single remote pilot. All FSS pilots are certified technicians, equipped to handle the entire inspection process. Our drones are equipped with high-performance camera systems that are capable of achieving 30x digital zoom and infrared imaging sensors to accurately record temperatures. This allows our crew members to achieve clear, up-close views while still maintaining a safe distance from the asset because even with all the safety procedures in place for inspectors, accidents still happen. The drones of FSS eliminate the risk of injury.
For inspecting confined spaces, such as above-ground storage tanks, boilers, and vessels, UAVs provide a much more efficient process with no health risks along the way. When using UAVs for inspections, there’s no need for manned entry, hole watchers, or following tedious confined space entry procedures. This allows us to perform inspections faster than using the traditional method, which leads to less downtime during repairs. Our UAVs are equipped with powerful onboard LED lighting systems, stabilization sensors, and a collision tolerant protective cage. Before manned entry, our UAVs perform a pre-inspection, identifying hanging or broken components, assessing other potential hazards, and locating the exact area where repairs are needed, saving time and money for your company.
Pipe crawlers can be used to access the inside or outside of pipes and ductwork to perform inspections and ensure their integrity. FSS uses crawlers to inspect areas that are not only dangerous but impossible for humans to reach. Often, the pipes don’t even need to be shut off for the inspections to take place. UAVs speed up the inspection process dramatically while reducing overall costs from inspection personnel and company downtime.
Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs) are ideal for cost-effective underwater inspections of assets such as internal potable water tanks, wells, and water pipelines. The ROV requires one or two operators who can remain outside the tank, eliminating the need for most inspection related permits. The ROV takes continuous footage that can be watched live and reviewed at a later time, greatly reducing the chance for human error when checking for corrosion and compromised areas. With the need for most safety procedures eliminated, ROVs can be deployed rapidly and are less costly than traditional divers.
